NEW CHURCH LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Over 80 people (lay and clergy) gathered at the Virginia Conference Center in Glen Allen, VA. for their first introduction to possibly starting a new church.  The gathering was comprised of people from the Northeastern and the Southeastern Jurisdictions.

Those in attendace had been invited by their conference new church director to attend with other potential candiadtes.  This was a time of learning about the joys and pitfalls of starting a new community of faith.  Several new church pastors shared their stories - the joys and the heartaches. 

Leadership styles were discovererd and explained.  Behaviors of church planters were discussed.  Many other facets of church planting were shared and explained.

Not everyone who attended will be discerned to have the necessary traits to start a new church.  Some who do have the traits will be asked to start a new church when there is a strong affinity between their lifestyle and the lifestyle of those in the target area.
